Designed slowly. Loved for a lifetime.

House of Lhotan is a boutique interior design studio in Charleston, South Carolina, founded by Brittany Lhotan. We create homes that feel collected, soulful, and deeply tied to the people who live within them.

It started, honestly, with a prayer.

I grew up around job sites. My dad worked in construction, so I learned early what a 2x4 was, what a framer does, how a house actually comes together. I also learned, somewhere along the way, that a house and a home are two completely different things.

I was the kid moving furniture around in my bedroom every other weekend. The one obsessing over how a room felt before I had any language for it. That fascination never really left, it just grew up alongside me.

House of Lhotan was born from a calling more than a business plan. A prayer, a passion, and a series of doors that kept opening when I least expected them to. What started as a dream turned into a studio that gets to walk alongside families during one of the most personal projects of their lives: the home they'll live in.

A few things we believe.

01

Story comes before style.

Before we ever talk about paint colors or stone slabs, we want to know how you live. Where you gather. Who's coming over on a Sunday. What you wish your home did better.

02

Timeless beats trendy, every time.

We're not interested in designing something you'll be tired of in three years. We want your home to feel just as beautiful a decade from now as it does the day we step back from it.

03

Old soul, modern bones.

Charleston is in our DNA. The architecture here teaches you things— about proportion, history, restraint. We love marrying that old-world charm with the realities of how families actually live today.

04

Bespoke means yours

No two of our projects look alike, and they shouldn't. Your home should feel like you walked into it and made it, not like a designer dropped in a mood board.

Why Charleston?

Inspired by the place we call home.

Charleston is layered. There's a richness here— in the architecture, the gardens, the way people host, that you can't fake. So much of what we do is shaped by this city: the warmth, the history, the porches, the patina. We design with all of it in mind.
